Mission, vision and values
Our commitment, your satisfaction

QUALITY, RAW MATERIALS AND PREPARATION

Its all about the customer. Our mission is to satisfy our consumers' needs with quality products. Wholesome, nutritional and easy to prepare products for our consumers, that have made Grupo Consorcio a trusted food company for the market, opting to launch the products onto the market that consumers demand, and which they appreciate and enjoy at their tables each day. Because we know how to innovate whilst retaining the natural essence of our products.

OUR HISTORY
A true story that reflects our origins

-1-
It all started in the seafaring village of Santoña

The origins of Grupo Consorcio date back to 1950, when a group of daring fish processing artisans founded Consorcio Español Conservero, a Limited Company, in Santoña. The main factory was based in the village itself, with a further production centre opened later in Colindres, Cantabria.

Production was based on fish such as the anchovy or the coveted Albacore tuna from the Golf of Biscay and, to a lesser extent Atlantic horse mackerel, Atlantic mackerel or Atlantic saury. It was the time of spinners, fishermen in black and white and boats that writhed with the impact of the waves.

-2-
Time to open up

In the 80s - by which time it is an established benchmark in Spain - the Consorcio embarked on a policy of internationalisation resulting in its disembarkation at the boot of Europe, Italy.

Whereby, over the course of a decade, ever greater numbers of tables in the transalpine country were able to enjoy the Consorcio's products, making them leaders in high quality tuna and consolidating sales of Albacore tuna throughout the land.

The 90s, investing
for more growth

1997 was a milestone for the company. Inauguration of a new 16,000 m² plant in Santoña with cutting edge tuna canning technologies, enabling Grupo Consorcio to increase its production volume and, above all, the speed with which it can access the main supply chains.

Because our most significant innovation has been in the field of packaging and palletisation process automation.
This is the best way of celebrating our 50th anniversary.

Unity
breeds strength

The start of the new century sees the beginning of a period of mergers and incorporations at Grupo Consorcio. First came Pelazza in 2004, making Grupo Consorcio the leading Spanish anchovy fillet producer. And a year later, Productos Campanal S.A., a firm with over 80 years’ experience preparing home-cooked meals.

Paralleled by the creation in Peru of La Compañía Americana de Conservas, with a 13,000 m² factory for capturing Engraulis Ringens and Engraulis Anchoíta, the Peruvian and Argentinian anchovies. Soon to become the largest semi-perishable anchovy fillet production plant in the world.

Continuing expansion

In 2011 we launched our special “Gran Costera” range of higher quality products, to promote the Group's direct sales channel.

Today Grupo Consorcio has over 200 employees distributed around the world, and are market leaders in Spain for the sale of anchovies and Albacore tuna.  And with a presence in over 40 countries where we remain true to our origins, tradition and quality.

OUR FACTORIES
INNOVATION, BUT TRUE TO THE ESSENCE

TRADITION AND INNOVATION HAND IN HAND

Our starting point is the raw materials extracted from the sea. But what happens after landing at port? Grupo Consorcio has been committed from the outset to maintaining their essence, but without loosing sight of the technological advances that add value to many aspects of the canning process, such as automated canning lines.

Over 39,000 m² in Spain are dedicated to bonito, anchovies, tuna and other ready meals. And with a 4,000 m² robotic logistics centre to reach our customers quickly.

And 13,000 m² in Peru at La Compañía Americana de Conservas, the largest anchovy fillet production plant in the world.
