This seal recognises the sustainable companies that meet high social and environmental standards.
The best companies for the world
In Spain, there are 83 companies with the ‘B Corp’ certification, with over 3,000 throughout the world, including Grupo Consorcio. We have just received this prestigious international recognition that guarantees positive social business practices and a positive environmental impact for any companies that commit to measuring, reporting and continuously improving their activity to benefit society.
Grupo Consorcio is the first Cantabrian company to get this certificate awarded by the independent entity B Lab after reviewing, evaluating and certifying the company’s social and environmental performance and exceeding the sustainable management and operation standard in Spain and in Peru.
Since 2016, at Grupo Consorcio, we have been following two international benchmark standards to meet our sustainability goals: 'B Corp' and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). “We are taking a decisive bid to incorporate sustainability into the strategy and into the company’s operations as a factor to show our competitive and responsible attitude in the current context. Not only do we offer an increasingly sustainable product, but we intend to be a company that is ever more aware and responsible for everything around it,” adds Ignacio Corral, our Director General.
Grupo Consorcio took a further step in this project in 2018 and we set up a battery of very specific long term goals, such as prioritising sustainable fishing, generating future opportunities for the company workers and their local communities and minimising our environmental impact. This philosophy brings them into a global movement.
“Obtaining the B Corp certification is just a milestone along the path to the company’s transformation and continuous improvement.” Consequently, from Grupo Consorcio, we have defined six strategic commitments that provide the backbone of the company’s sustainability philosophy and that guides what it does (sustainable fishing, return to origins), who does it (opportunities for the future, proximity) and how they do it (less environmental impact, responsible management).
